| Introduction | Copeptin (CT-proAVP) is a C-terminal protein fragment released when vasopressin-neurophysin 2-copeptin (AVP) is cleaved into its constituent peptides. The copeptin sequence is thought to play a role in promoting the correct folding of AVP while still attached to the prohormone; there is no known biological function for copeptin once released. Copeptin is generally released in the same concentrations as arginine vasopressin, except it has a longer half-life, so it is sometimes used as an indirect measurement of the latter. |
