| Introduction | Tumor necrosis factor inducible gene 6 protein (TNFAIP6, also known as TNF-stimulated gene 6 protein, TSG6) is a protein that binds to various extracellular matrix components, including hyaluronic acid, versican, fibronecting, and aggrecan. Its expression is increased by TNF-α and IL-1, and may help dampen the inflammatory response by shifting macrophages towards an anti-inflammatory phenotype. High levels of TNFAIP6 were associated with increased arthritis severity. |
