Mouse Tartrate-Resistant Acid Phosphatase 5b (TRACP-5b) Chemiluminescent Immunoassay (CLIA) Kit is a Chemiluminescent Immunoassay (CLIA) kit against Tartrate-Resistant Acid Phosphatase 5b (TRACP-5b).

Introduction Tartrate-Resistant Acid Phosphatase 5b (TRACP-5b, also known as TRAP and TRAPase, gene name ACP5) is a fragment of an enzyme that hydrolyses phosphate esters using an iron atom as a catalyst. It is highly expressed by osteoclasts, and potentially has functions relating to bone metabolism. The 5a fragment occurs during inflammation, while the 5b fragment is used as a marker for bone resorption. TRACP knockout mice had developmental issues and osteopetrosis, while mutations in humans result in spondyloenchondrodysplasia with immune dysregulation (SPENCDI).
