Peripherin Cell ELISA Kit is a cell-based ELISA Kit. Cells to be assayed should be seeded onto a clear flat bottom 96 well plate, using poly-L-lysine for non-adherent cells. Cells should be grown to 75-90% confluence and treated prior to carrying out the ELISA.

Introduction Peripherin (PRPH, also known as Neurofilament 4, NEF4) is a type III intermediate filament protein found in most peripheral neurons, and in some central neurons that connect to peripheral neurons. It is thought to form a structural network with or without other neurofilament proteins, and may be involved in the development of unmyelinated sensory neurons. Mutations in peripherin are associated with a susceptibility to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
