| Introduction | Rat Placenta Growth Factor (PGF) is a member of the vascular endothelial growth factor family of proteins. It is implicated in the PI3K-Akt and Rap1 signalling pathways and its mRNA has been shown to increase over the course of gestation. PGF is broadly expressed across tissues, except in the liver where transcription is very low. Silencing the PGF gene reduces complications in murine models of sickle cell anaemia and chronic liver disease. |
